CUBA SERRANO

Coffee has been grown in Cuba in the nation's eastern mountains since coffee was introduced to the island until 1748 and remains one of the pioneers of coffee growing in the Caribbean.

Over the past 200 years, Cuban farmers have not changed the way they grew coffee beans. They do it respecting the natural process of the plantations, patiently following each production process. Cuban coffee is grown in mountainous and forested areas, on soils rich in natural nutrients and does not need of any fertilizer. To plant coffee, Cuban farmers carefully choose a place in the forest. The coffee plants are protected from the sun and from the Caribbean wind that crosses the forest. At the time of harvest, each grain is selected by hand and transported with care to the processing and drying plants.
