Papua New Guinea is an independent state of Oceania bathed by the Pacific Ocean. With a population of over 7 million inhabitants, it is the second largest state in Oceania after Australia.
The country is mainly mountainous, the highest peak is Mount Wilhelm which reaches 4,509 meters above sea level, and about three quarters of the territory is occupied by the rainforest which constitutes an enormous heritage.
The climate is tropical with abundant rainfall.
The population is mainly rural and young, over 84% of the inhabitants live in the countryside. One of the first sources of income is based on the export of coffee and cocoa. The Sigri plantation, located in the Waghi valley enjoys an excellent reputation for producing high quality coffee, grown at around 1600 meters above sea level.
There are over 5000 people who work every harvest season to carefully select each cherry, each grain, carrying out a scrupulous quality control from the hand harvest to the drying phase to obtain a result in the cup of a sensational balance between sweetness and acidity.
